About Frances Osten

Introduced to weaving in the 1970's, I returned to it in earnest in 1999. I began showing my weaving with two fellow weavers soon after, under the name Danforth Weavers, participating in a range of juried craft fairs around Massachusetts. I also sell my weaving individually under the name Goose Cove Looms. My work has been sold at London Ventures in Rockport, and is included in the Weaver's Guild Boston new book, Interlaced as well as in issues of Complex Weaver's Journal. Inspired by the colors of the water, sunsets and shore of Gloucester, I weave primarily with yarns I dye myself to get optimal color blending and sense of movement and light found in the natural world around me. Because of the dying process, no two pieces are ever identical. I weave shawls and ponchos as well as scarves, table runners, and baby blankets.
