Artist in Residency Program
This is now the Goetemann Residency program named for its founder, Gordon Goetemann, who was also a founding member of seARTS. From the 2005 Rocky Neck description – “A grant was procured through the efforts of the RNAC, seARTS, and Artspace from the Massachusetts Cultural Council; additional funds were raised by the Rocky Neck Art Colony. Studio space will be provided to the artists at no cost, as well as a grant of $1000 to each artist toward living and other professional expenses. Studio space was provided through a partnership between the RNAC and the Gloucester Marine Railways located on Rocky Neck.”
Rocky Neck Art Colony Artists in Residence Program launched with four resident artists. The residency so energized Rocky Neck that local historical awareness and activism increased, resulting in the Neck’s inclusion on the list of Ten Most Endangered Historical Resources.
Today the program has grown and also includes a distinguished artist who lectures on Rocky Neck and the Cape Ann Museum. This is a crown jewel of the Rocky Neck Art Colony.
