Artist statement:
My art is often a collage of whatever stirs me as interesting and challenging. I reach for something not ordinary: art that evokes a sense of wonder, beyond the edge of thought process.
As an artist who expresses ideas visually, I strive to be true to what I see and feel. Some of the beginnings for my work are motivated by inner thoughts, events and emotions. Loved ones, family and friends are a source of inspiration as well.
The artist is a native of Gloucester, MA. Theresa received a BFA from Emmanuel College, Boston, MA, 1984. Her principal focus of fine arts study was Printmaking. Theresa’s professional experience has revolved around graphic design.
Description of work:
In the past, Theresa created monoprints by working with acrylic paints on a zinc plate, drawing and collaging, then rolling the plate through an etching press. Her present art represents a shift from traditional printmaking to digital printmaking. The images are still symbolic of her style, yet she utilizes the computer as a compositional tool to develop the process.
Currently, she is rediscovering acrylic paint again but on canvas in her
most recent work of abstract paintings.
