My work bares the imprint of growing up immersed in the artist culture of Cape Ann Massachusetts. Picture a nine year old striding to catch up to a pack of adults through, for her, shoulder high meadow grass; going through the summer light to some place unknown to paint, with adults. That was the first group workshop, one of many to follow over the next many decades.
I have always been an artist. Painting is an avenue in which I work to translate my experience to others. Color, composition and shape are the elements of the language I ‘speak’ ; instinctive, deliberate and real.
Rhode Island School of Design and a year in Italy were my formal art training.
Then, living over a decade in Europe, exploring a buffet of museum collections, my artistic sense cemented: a plate of Sargent, a cup of German Expressionism, a gallon of energy and brushstroke.
Now, based out of Tidal Edge Gallery in Rockport, I work to be a new link in the Cape Ann art tradition, to evolve and progress in presenting the landscapes of my daily life in a unique and inspiring stye.

Ever since first moving to Cape Ann discovering its natural beauty and love for the arts abundant in this wonderful community, I’ve dreamed of opening a gallery here. We are now in our second year and I’m very excited to have several talented artist on board and absolutely thrilledby how well each artist’s work complements the others. The gallery boasts a variety of art from sculpture, watercolors, oils, photography and works in precious metals.
I began my career as a commercial artist in NYC. I received my BFA from Syracuse University. I have since established myself as an illustrator, painting professionally for more than 20 years. My work has been exhibited at the New York Society of Illustrators, and published as a contributing artist in issues of Communication Arts magazine.
While being commissioned for commercial art for most of my career, from companies including: Amtrak, ATARI, Coca Cola, Hasbro, Lucas Films, Reebok, Scholastic. I found myself developing painting techniques that varied across a broad range of the illustration market.
I had the pleasure and honor of being selected to create original postage stamp designs to commemorate the Coalition, during the Gulf War, and the 100th year anniversary of the International Olympic Committee.
I relocated to Cape Ann in 1993 through a contact from a dear art director friend out of New York, to come out to beautiful Cape Ann and work as an in-house illustrator for a major toy & game company. I created cover art and developed characters for their fun and wonderful products.
As exciting as that all was, the digital world of art left me missing the intimate and tangible part of creating art. There’s really nothing quite like the “one on one” experience between you and the canvas.
My hope here in Rockport is to continue to help cultivate and grow the rich history of the arts here in this incredibly community.
