seARTS Wearable Arts Group & Programs
The Wearable Arts Group is composed of seARTs members who create and run an annual Holiday show and have also run other events such as the first runway show called Celebrate Wearable Art. Celebrate Wearable Art II was held September 29th 2013 during Boston Fashion Week.
seARTS would like to thank all the supporters of this year’s show – The Boston Foundation, Axis Promotions, Gloucester Engineering, Cape Ann Savings Bank, Kathy Hamilos, and more. We also appreciate our media sponsors & partners Art New England and North Shore Magazine. See Slideshow below or link to photos here for easy downloading.
The 2013 Holiday Show will be held December 14 & 15th to coincide with Gloucester’s Middle Street Walk on Saturday and continue on Sunday.
Artists interested in selling work at future shows can write to email@example.com to express their interest.
Jewelers and Fiber Artists who join seARTS are invited to join the wearable arts group, but space in shows is limited. However, the group does it best to accommodate new members when possible – keeping in mind the need to balance the show with different types of work. We just completed our 2012 show with 16 artists and sold $10,800 of locally made wearable art. We also raised $1100 for the Library and 15% of sales went to seARTS. Thanks everyone. Enjoy the photos below and more to come!

In the summer of 2006, seARTS held it’s first Jewelry Design Salon led by Claire Sanford featuring a range of jewelry artists that included:
- Mary Hughes & Caro-Gray Bosco
- Beth Williams
- Jacqueline Ganim-DeFalco
- Betsy Frost
- Claire Sanford
- Marcia & Tony Settipani
- John Bojoras
- Annabel Wildrick
Out of this salon grew a Holiday Show & Sale that was first hosted at the Pleasant Street Tea Company.
Quickly outgrowing that space, the group moved its show, now in its 6th year, to the Sawyer Free Library’s Saunder’s House.
The seARTS Wearable Art Holiday Show & Sale is held annually during Gloucester’s historic Middle Street Walk during the second Saturday in December. The event begins with an opening reception on the night before the Show and features music and food made by the artists. Each year, the group has increased its sales and has topped $10,000 in recent years. Additionally, the group contributes to and runs a raffle to support the Library as part of the event.
How to get involved
This show is by invitation from the Wearable Arts group. The group has carved a niche on the North Shore and hopes to continue to grow its presence. The goal of the show and the group is to show diverse works of hand-made one-of-a-kind jewelry and accessories. To be invited to shows, seARTS requests that the artists become a member and join the group. The group works collaboratively to put on this show and most recently a higher profile effort – a runway show – called Celebrate Wearable Art! This show will be repeated on October 6, 2013. Volunteers for the committee are welcome. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org!
