2022 Art on the Rocks Application

Call for Work for the 16th Annual
Art Loan Program at Bass Rocks Golf Club
34 Beach Road

Deadline for Submissions: February 22, 2022

The seARTS-Bass Rocks Art Loan Program is entering its 16th year. This program is very popular among Bass Rocks members who truly appreciate the connection to the local art scene. To date about $40,000 worth of art work has been sold and nearly 300 artists’ works have been displayed! Each year, three artists are chosen for jury awards.

The Loan Program is for members of seARTS and will run for one year at the Bass Rocks Golf Club, installed on the main floor. Your submitted works must be available for one year. During this time artists may schedule studio visits for Club members, extend invitations to other shows or provide any information that they wish. If an artwork is sold, the artist may replace it with a new selection, and must then submit the new signed form consigning the work.

Deadline for Applications: February 22, 2022

  • Applications should include three pieces produced during the last three years. All work that is wall hung is eligible and if accepted must be wired or otherwise ready for installation. Extremely heavy work will not be accepted.
  • seARTS membership is required for all applicants. If you are already a seARTS member, there is a $15.00 application fee used for marketing & administration, which must be submitted online with your application. If you are not a seARTS member, the fee is $65 ($50 for one year’s individual membership + $15 application fee). Click here to purchase or renew your membership and here to pay the $15 application fee separately.
  • If you are not sure of your membership status, please email us at info@searts.org before you apply, and we will check your status for you.

Please remember you must make the work/s available for one year if it is accepted.

Selected work must be the same as submitted on the application. Please note, the curators/jury reserve the right not to hang a piece should the quality of the accepted work differ from the quality of the image submitted.

Artists whose work is accepted will be notified by email or phone on a date to be announced. A 3-part, filled-in exhibit label, with the artist’s name, phone number, and title, medium and price of work, will be emailed to the artists. This label must be printed, signed and affixed to the back of each accepted work before drop-off. Drop-off dates will be announced soon.

Please bring the following items on drop-off day (date TBA):

  • 3-part form filled out with the information on the accepted work/s
  • Your biographical information in a plastic sleeve for a 3-ring binder (Artists’ Book)
  • Any brochures or postcards you would like to have available for display

Promotional Opportunities

  • Biographical materials will be assembled into an Artists’ Book that will be available to all visitors to the Bass Rocks Golf Club. If you are available for studio visits, indicate the times and address with your other materials.
  • seARTS will produce an online announcement that artists can use as an invitation to the opening. Artists are encouraged to invite guests. As the event is free, it is much appreciated if the artists can bring an appetizer to the opening. The seARTS Board and volunteers all contribute something to the food table to make it a festive event. There is a cash bar. (We cannot bring in any alcoholic drinks.)
  • Awards will be given by the Jury and announced at the Opening Event on xxx.
  • Bass Rocks will feature exhibiting artists in many of its newsletters and you will also be featured in the seARTS newsletter.
  • Work will be listed with prices online and in a book displayed at Bass Rocks. Bass Rocks also has signage to indicate that the work is for sale, including an easel which is always present at the doorway. It will be in a slideshow on both seARTS.org and the Bass Rocks website.

Sale of Work
All artworks accepted must be available for sale. As this is not the main business of seARTS, no sales tax is charged. Please note that seARTS will take a 30% commission from the sale price. A referral fee of 10% is requested for work sold as a result of a referral made directly from the show at Bass Rocks. [In the rare case that one of the pieces hanging at Bass Rocks is sold by some other means (e.g. off the artist’s website), seARTS would also request a referral fee of 5%.] Reporting of this is up to the artist and buyer and will be on the honor system. Bass Rocks Golf Club is a secure building, but any incidents involving damage to artwork will be handled on a case by case basis.
