Steam Shovels, Trains, Cable Cars and More!

December 29, 2012 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

| Free

A youth program aimed at celebrating the work of Cape Ann author/illustrator Virginia Lee Burton. Art making in the Children’s Activity Center will be followed by readings of Burton’s best known works. Create your own winter scene like the one in Katy and the Big Snow with cotton balls and more. Use charcoal pencils to draw a train like the one in Choo Choo. Color and assemble your very own Maybelle the Cable Car using a straw and string. And explore how steam shovels and other construction vehicles work using miniature versions of the real thing.

Join Museum staff for a reading of Burton’s works:
11:30 Choo Choo
12:30 Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel
1:30 Katy and the Big Snow
